Do you go to your beauty specialist for relaxation? Or do you want to take your skincare to the next level with cutting edge technology and procedures?
Gone are the days when a cleanse, exfoliation, steam and mask would suffice. Consumers now want Botox like results without actually having Botox. These net savvy customers don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a treatment that they could do on their own at home.
Have you heard the latest terms in the beauty industry? ‘High tech facial’, ‘skin gym’ and ‘super facials’ are all terms associated with specialised equipment used to perform treatments.
These ‘super facials’ are not new. I’ve been working with facial equipment since the 90’s. I love equipment that can achieve results that can’t be obtained via a traditional ‘manual’ facial treatment.
Just like going to the gym to reduce fat or tone muscle, you need to be committed to more than one session. The skin gym programs require multiple sessions weekly to fortnightly (except for the HIFU facelift) depending on what your beauty professional is treating.
Here are three of my favourite futuristic facials:
Skin tightening or cellulite treatments using Radio Frequency (RF).
Is non invasive and treats skin tightening of lax skin (including sagging jowls, abdomen, thighs, and arms), as well as wrinkle reduction, cellulite improvement, and body contouring. The Venus concept multi-polar device is used to heat tissue and stimulate subdermal collagen production, in order to reduce the appearance of fine lines and loose skin. The technique induces collagen remodelling and production of new collagen and elastin. It can even feel like you’re having a hot stone massage.
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).
If you’re looking for the ‘Rolls Royce’ in anti-ageing treatments, then look no further than the HIFU Facelift treatment. Its a little more hard core than the skin tightening service listed above, due to the focused ultrasound having to cause microtrauma to the deep muscle layer. It only requires one session unlike all other services in the industry. HIFU is the ultimate in high tech equipment and the closest alternative on the market to a surgical facelift. It’s gaining popularity as an alternative or complementary treatment to dermal fillers and Botox. It uses focused ultrasound that penetrates through the surface of the skin, without triggering any damage to the external surface. It does this by delivering the ultrasound energy at the precise 3mm depth for connective tissue and 4.5mm for the SMAS layer, without damaging or disrupting skin and contracting and tightening the muscle. Think of it like shrink wrapping the face back to youthfulness!
Collagen-boosting LED light therapy
Pioneered by NASA, Light therapy can be incorporated into any hi-tech facial for that added boost. It works by using an array of high powered LEDs.
Blue for pimples. Red stimulates collagen. Green helps improves pigmentation and yellow for vibrancy. When using therapeutic light energy in the correct wavelength, the cells in the dermal layer of skin will convert the light energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the fuel the cells use to do their job. The treatment is also highly relaxing. I recommend 1-2 sessions a week for a series of 8 sessions.
